The Affordable Future of Sustainability
Having scaled an academic journey from my school, wherein I realized a strong inclination in me towards the field of STEM, I have been working on a pathway for myself by which I would be able to bring in innovative interventions in the sciences for the concerns of sustainable development. Having exposed myself to how STEM experts are bringing in revolutionary changes to the table to address environmental crisis and climate change, I have myself endeavored to take up comprehensive research projects that have focused on how Artificial Intelligence can improve the organizational efficiency at reducing the emissions of carbon dioxide. This led me to working on social impact projects that would make public spaces accessible to socioeconomically marginalized groups like daily wage laborers and visually impaired people. For the former, identifying a lack of practical support, I have worked towards developing heat relief packs and Heat wave alert applications that would protect the economically vulnerable groups from becoming the continuous victims of climate change. For the latter, I have collaborated with manufacturers and brought walking sticks that underline how innovation can demonstrate social impact and reduced use of plastic.
Further going on this trajectory, I intend to keep working in the domain of sustainability to bring out smart systems that would address the acute shortage of affordable resources for the vulnerable groups who are the first victims of ableist infrastructure and global warming. Furthermore, having identified a strong potential in the field of STEM for a youth like me, I intend to collaborate with organizations and experts in the future for large-impact projects that would address climate resilience and adaptation issues for the marginalized communities. For this reason, I have found myself engrossed in multiple leadership skills and school service opportunities which have made me sensitive to group dynamics and multi-tasking. My responsibilities as a student have made me cognizant of the need to contextually address the demand of each stakeholder involved in a socio-ecological endeavor.
